How Effective is Your Salon’s Online Presence?

Ensuring that your salon is relevant and up-to-date in the online world is absolutely pivotal in this day and age. With most people turning to the internet to conduct searches, check out reviews, and follow businesses on social media, ensuring your online presence is visible will help direct new clients to your salon.

If you haven’t updated your website in a while or you don’t have one, now is a good time to take a look. Rejuvenate your digital marketing strategy and you can increase the footfall and revenue of your business.

Your Online Presence

Making sure you are current and up to date online may take time and money, but when done correctly, it is time and money well spent.

Do you have a website? Are you active on social media? Do you keep your Google listing up to date? There’s a lot to think about when it comes to online marketing, but we’re here to help you get started.

An Informative Salon Website

Your website will no doubt be the first place your clients are directed to either through Google or direct links on other sites. A good website doesn’t need to be all singing and dancing, but a nice clean page with contact details, information on your services, and links to active social accounts is really important. Check the links regularly to ensure everything is working. Having a ‘responsive’ website is also important as Google will rank these types of website higher. A responsive website is one where the website adjusts to fit the screen it is being viewed from automatically.

Whatever style of website you opt for, it’s of the utmost importance to ensure all the important information; links, addresses and contact details are current and up to date. Otherwise, what’s the point in investing your precious time and hard earned money if it doesn’t contain the right details?

Use Social to Your Advantage

Social media can be a very useful tool indeed. It’s important to only open accounts that you can commit to managing (or have someone else manage) as it can come across really unprofessional to be seen as a business with dormant social media accounts (and leave people wondering where you’ve gone?!).

Start by choosing one or two social media platforms and really invest the time to do them well. It may be easier to schedule posts ahead of time so you’re not constantly having to worry about uploading a post. Just find what works best for you.

Keep on Top of Listings

When anybody (read potential client!) types the name of your business into the Google search engine, your details will come up. Therefore, it’s so important to make sure all the relevant details are up to date and correct.

A thorough check of what’s there should be carried out every one to three months to ensure it’s all correct. You can even add pictures to your Google listing to show people what your business looks like. A few pictures of your treatment rooms and even your price list will really enhance your listing.

Put in the Effort

If you can, put some time aside each week to work on the digital marketing side of your business. Think about what public holidays are coming up; Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas, and any awareness days relevant to beauty. You can use these to help promote and engage your clients on social media. Ask your product companies if they have any promotional materials you can use. We create lots at SkinBase and these are available to our customers to use. A little time and thought can go a long way to increasing your bottom line.
