Microdermabrasion vs Microneedling

As the market demand grows for more advanced treatments, micro needling is becoming more popular whilst microdermabrasion remains a solid staple. All treatments have a place within the industry and offer amazing results, so here is a break down of two of the most popular salon treatments.

Microdermabrasion

Our cult favourite treatment!

Using super fine crystals to remove dead skin cells, microdermabrasion causes a controlled injury to rejuvenate and resurface the skin. The vacuum action of the machine draws away the used crystals and dead skin cells, and draws out blackheads and impurities. The vacuum action also stimulates blood flow to the face, bathing the tissues in oxygen and nutrients. We also begin to stimulate new collagen and elastin production, disrupting the ageing process to leave the skin looking more youthful. Waste is also removed from the tissues via the lymphatic system providing the all important post-facial glow!

Concerns it treats

  • Mild Acne
  • Congestion/blackheads
  • Pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun Damage
  • Scarring
  • Acne Scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Dry/Dehydrated Skin
  • Skin elasticity

Positives

  • Instant results
  • Glowing skin
  • Improved skin texture
  • Improved skin clarity
  • No downtime
  • Treats all skin colours and skin types
  • Pain free
  • Enhances the penetration of products (they are no longer being absorbed by dead skin cells!)

Microneedling

Creating a buzz within the aesthetic industry!

Micro needling uses tiny needles which prick the skin causing damage to the epidermis and dermis. In doing so, this kickstarts the healing process and remodels the skin structures by producing more collagen and elastin. Dependant upon the skin and area of concern, different sized needles are selected for different depths and results are always guaranteed!

Concerns it can treat

  • Mild Acne
  • Hair loss
  • Pigmentation
  • Large pores
  • Skin elasticity
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun Damage
  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Positives

  • Amazing instant results once healed
  • Remodels scars and stretch marks regardless of how old or stubborn they are
  • Stimulates collagen and elastin production leaving the skin more youthful in appearance

If your clients are a little squeamish and don’t like pain, this may not be the treatment for them, however practitioners would start with a smaller needle and a shallower depth to build tolerance to the treatment. There is also downtime due to the redness of the skin and as the skin begins to repair, so for busy clients with a busy lifestyle it may not fit.

Course of Treatments

For both treatments it is worth noting that for best results it is recommended to be taken as a course of treatments, but if you are looking for a results driven facial with multiple benefits for your client then look no further!
